OPERATIONS
My main areas of interest is anaesthesia for primary and revision hip and knee joint replacement (arthroplasty), sports surgery (including knee and shoulder reconstruction, and hip arthroscopy), and trauma.
ANAESTHESIA FOR KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGERY
Optional but recommended
Single injection in the lower back
Helps smooth recovery 1st 6 hours
Placed using ultrasound
Connected to portable pump
3-5 days duration
All patients will be asleep
(unless otherwise requested)
Surgical injection when you are asleep. Assists with pain relief 1st 24 hours
HIP REPLACEMENT SURGERY
Optional but recommended

All patients will be asleep
(unless otherwise requested)
Surgical injection when you are asleep. Assists with pain relief 1st 24 hours
ACL Reconstructive Surgery
This surgery involves replacing the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee with a graft of hamstring tendons taken from the back of the thigh and secured inside the knee joint to improve the stability of the joint.
ARTHROSCOPIC SURGERY
Knee Arthroscopy
This involves the insertion of a camera and a surgical tool inside the knee joint via small 'keyhole' incisions. It is used to accurately identify problems within the joint and to treat cartilage tears and other surgical problems.
Hip Arthroscopy
This involves insertion of a camera and surgical tools inside the hip joint through 'keyhole' incisions to allow identification and treatment of certain hip problems most commonly labral tears of the cartilage.
Shoulder Arthroscopy
A small camera is inserted into the shoulder joint and surgical tools can identify and treat various shoulder problems.
Rotator Cuff Repair Surgery
This surgery involves repairing the torn tendons of the shoulder using arthroscopic and open techniques. Click on the link below to read more about the anaesthetic and pain management.
