Professor Riaz Khan

BSc (Hons), MBBS, FRCS (Eng), FRCS (Tr&Orth), FRACS, PhD

Professor Riaz Khan qualified from Guy’s Hospital in London, and completed his orthopaedic training in Cambridge. He undertook a Fellowship in Perth, Western Australia, and returned there as a consultant in 2005 where he has been practicing ever since.

He works in partnership with Professor Daniel Fick at The Joint Studio www.thejointstudio.com.au, and operates out of Hollywood Private Hospital, and St John of God Hospital Geraldton.

Riaz Khan is an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at Notre Dame University, Fremantle, an adjunct Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at Curtin University, Perth, and Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas, USA. He is a surgeon scientist who has published extensively www.thejointstudio.com.au/research/research and has raised over AUD$1 million in research grant funding.  He has delivered over 50 invited presentations to learned societies and has served as a reviewer on the British Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (BJJ) since 2005 and the Journal of Arthroplasty since 2013. The Joint Studio has its own continuous prospective arthroplasty database and supports an AOA accredited international Fellow.

In 2015 Professor Riaz Khan and Professor Daniel Fick established the Australian Institute of Robotic Orthopaedics www.airo.net.au with Associate Professor Brett Robertson.

Professor Dan Fick

MBBS (Hons), FRACS

Professor Daniel Fick began his career at Sir Charles Gairdner and Hollywood Private Hospitals after completing his Medical Degree at the University of Western Australia. He expanded his training into several sub-disciplines of orthopaedics including computer navigated trauma and joint replacements as well as arthroscopic procedures of the hip, shoulder and knee.

Research is an integral part of Daniel Fick’s practice. A list of his publications can be found at www.thejointstudio.com.au/research/research. Daniel Fick is an adjunct Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at Curtin University, Perth, and Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas.
